A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE 15TH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2001-2002.

1. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:

A. Ka`ewai Elementary School

1. Repair structural damage of the buildings, including cracks in masonry walls, unevenness of walkways, "stuck" doors, and subsidence of the embankment along the makai side of the campus; repair roof and paint entire school.

Total funding $1,500,000

B. Kalihi-Waena Elementary School

1. Air-conditioning for the library. Upgrade the electricity capacity for the school. Extend and fence the parking lot.

Total funding $565,000

C. Dole Middle School

1. Regrade and level campus. Fix the drainage and sinking walkways. Renovate and redesign physical education locker rooms. Design and construct 90 x 100 ft. in the parking area.

Total funding $750,000

D. Kalihi-Uka Elementary School

1. Upgrade the electricity capacity for the school.

Total funding $200,000

E. Kalihi Elementary School

1. Install playground equipment with padded ground cover for three campus play areas. Resurface upper playcourt. Resurface and strip staff parking lot. Paint covered court. Paint building A and B's exterior.

Total funding $420,000

2. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

A. Nature Park

1. Planning and development funding for 99 acres of the park.

Total funding $200,000

B. Kokua Kalihi Valley

1. Purchase the property at 1638 Kam IV Road to house the two new vans for the van-link program with the bus system, house permanent records and serve as a central supply/storage, and provide additional off-street parking for the Charles Judd Community Health Center on North School Street.

Total funding $350,000

C. Skate Park

1. Planning, designing, and construction funding.

Total funding $260,000

3. To be expended by the department of transportation:

A. Likelike Highway, Oahu

1. Design and construction for landscaping and improvements of Likelike Highway, Kalihi Valley, to H-1 Freeway.

Total funding $200,000

B. Moanalua Road, Oahu

1. Landscaping of Moanalua Road in Aiea from Aiea Interchange to Kaahumanu Street; planning funds.

Total funding $200,000

C. Aiea Gateway, Oahu

1. Design and construction of landscaping improvements in the vicinity of the Aiea Gateway at Aiea Interchange.

Total funding $200,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
