A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SPECIAL PROSECUTION UNITS AND VICTIM WITNESS PROGRAMS FOR THE COUNTIES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the department of the prosecuting attorney of the city and county of Honolulu for the support and maintenance of the career criminal prosecution unit, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the department of the prosecuting attorney of the city and county of Honolulu for the support and maintenance of the victim witness program, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated in sections 1 and 2 shall be expended by the city and county of Honolulu for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the office of the prosecuting attorney of the county of Maui for the support and maintenance of the career criminal prosecution unit, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 5. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the office of the prosecuting attorney of the county of Maui for the support and maintenance of the victim witness program, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 6. The sums appropriated in sections 4 and 5 shall be expended by the county of Maui for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 7. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the office of the prosecuting attorney of the county of Kauai for the support and maintenance of the career criminal prosecution unit, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 8. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the office of the prosecuting attorney of the county of Kauai for the support and maintenance of the victim witness program, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 9. The sums appropriated in sections 7 and 8 shall be expended by the county of Kauai for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 10. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the prosecuting attorney's office of the county of Hawaii for the support and maintenance of the career criminal prosecution unit, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 11. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, for a grant-in-aid to the prosecuting attorney's office of the county of Hawaii for the support and maintenance of the victim witness program, including the hiring of necessary staff.

SECTION 12. The sums appropriated in sections 10 and 11 shall be expended by the county of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 13. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
