Your Committees on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 270, submitting for study and consideration the nominations of:

BOARD OF PHYSICAL THERAPY

NAOMI KINOSHITA WADA, P.T., for a term to expire June 30, 2003; and

RANDAL HASHIMOTO and CYNTHIA M. TAMAYO, P.T., for terms to expire June 30, 2005,

begs leave to report as follows:

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs testified in support of all of the nominations.

Naomi Kinoshita Wada, P.T., holds a certificate in physical therapy from the University of Iowa and is licensed to practice in Hawaii. Ms. Wada has practiced physical therapy for over thirty-five years and is currently a director of physical therapy. She has served on the Board since July, 1995, and is presently the Board's Chairperson.

Randal Hashimoto is a sales representative who has served as the Board's public member since July, 1997. Mr. Hashimoto has contributed to Board proceedings by providing a consumer's point of view on physical therapy licensing issues.

Cynthia M. Tamayo, P.T., holds a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from St. Louis University and is licensed and employed as a physical therapist in Hawaii. Ms. Tamayo has served on the Board since July, 1997, and currently holds the position of Vice Chairperson.

As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing that are attached to this report, your Committees, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommend that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.
