STAND. COM. REP. NO.1738
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: H.B. No. 676
H.D. 1
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B. No. 676, H.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO OCCUPATIONAL AND CAREER INFORMATION,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to abolish the Hawaii State Occupational Information Coordinating Committee.
Additionally, this measure transfers to the workforce development council the Committee's present duty to produce federal training supply data concerning trainees in each occupational category.
Your Committee finds that this measure abolishes the coordinating committee but maintains the present level of state services regarding the occupational and career information. Your Committee further finds that elimination of the coordinating committee will actually improve access to employment information by participants, staff, and trainers along with employers and employment agencies.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 676, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
