A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE ELEVENTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $21,567,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the following capital improvements in the eleventh senatorial district:

1. Kuhio Elementary School, Oahu

Design and construction of a second floor annex to the administration and library buildings.

2. Lunalilo Elementary School, Oahu

A. Design and construction to install air conditioning for computer room.

B. Design and construction to install an automated electrical sprinkler system.

C. Construction to include beautification to sidewalks, landscaping, trees, and irrigation around school campus. $35,000

A. Design and construction for improvements to the existing fire access road to provide additional parking and meet code requirement; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

Planning, design, construction, and equipment for a new multi-function educational facility that includes six classrooms, physical education lockers and showers, food prep area, and equipment for school functions, full size playcourt, appurtenances, bleachers, site improvements to include disabled accessible additional parking, landscaping, and sound barrier.

B. Plans for various traffic calming projects surrounding the Roosevelt High School, Stevenson Middle School, and Lincoln Elementary School campuses in Makiki. $500,000

A. Design and construction for the installation of security screens; installation of rails to specifications; and installation of second floor security gates. Ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

B. Stevenson Middle School Campus Master Plan to include on-campus traffic circulation study. $300,000

9. Washington Middle School, Oahu

A. Design and construction to install electrical conduits to run from main vault to all buildings and to install new electrical panels in buildings to increase electrical capacity.

B. Design and construction to replace the basketball court surface and install new backboards.

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. The appropriations made for capital improvement projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriations are made; provided that all appropriations that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2004, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
