A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

Making an appropriation for computer education in department of education schools.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. In our increasingly technological world, it is imperative for students to have an adequate understanding of computer software and hardware. Such knowledge will significantly enhance a student's career prospects, ability to participate in the civic life of their communities, and overall personal development.

The purpose of this Act is to make an appropriation to enhance the availability of computer education in department of education schools in accordance with the goals and objectives of the board of education and department of education.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
