A BILL FOR AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE fourth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $11,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2001-2002, for the following capital improvements in the fourth senatorial district:
1. Baldwin High School
a. Library
Planning and Design $2,000,000
b. Twelve new science classrooms and new science laboratory.
Planning and Design $1,200,000
2. Honokahau Irrigation System
Repair siphons that have been abandoned for diversification of agriculture.
Repairs $1,500,000
3. Lahaina Bypass Road
Planning and designing a connector road.
Plans and Design $2,500,000
4. Lahainaluna High School
a. Design and construct an athletic locker, shower, and weight room. Additional funds for equipment and appurtenances.
Equipment $75,000
Design $225,000
Construction $2,300,000
Total funding $2,600,000
b. Renovations of existing library.
Total funding $1,200,000
SECTION 2. The appropriations made for capital improvement projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriations are made; provided that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30, 2005, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended for the purpose of this Act; provided that:
(1) The sums appropriated in items 1 and 4 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services; and
(2) The sums appropriated in items 2 and 3 of section 1 of this Act shall be expended by the county of Maui.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
