A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE twelfth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $16,446,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2002-2003, for the following capital improvements in the twelfth senatorial district:

1. Lincoln Elementary School

A. Provide safe playground surfacing material and frames for existing play apparatus as well as wheelchair accessibility.

Design $15,000

Construction $60,000

Total funding $75,000

b. Resurface parking lot for vehicle and pedestrian safety.

Design $28,000

Construction $112,000

Total funding $140,000

c. Reroute new drain line in kitchen to meet health code requirements.

Design $20,000

Construction $80,000

D. Re-roof covered walkways for student health and safety.

Design $22,000

Construction $66,000

2. McKinley High School

a. Renovations of Building W to comply with Americans with Disability Act requirements.

Total funding $5,000,000

b. Upgrade electrical on campus.

Total funding $1,000,000

c. Provide double sink in gym concession.

Total funding $25,000

d. Provide exhaust fans in gym.

Total funding $300,000

3. Kaahumanu School

a. Construct additional parking stalls and sidewalk on the school field.

Total funding $60,000

b. Covered walkway from Building C to Building F.

Total funding $80,000

c. Provide school field and yard sprinkler system.

Total funding $10,000

4. Washington Middle School

A. Electrical upgrade: Install electrical conduits from main vault to Buildings A, Fred Wright, Physical Education, and Band and Chorus.

b. Electrical upgrade: Install new electrical panels in Building A, Fred Wright, Physical Education, and Band and Chorus to increase electrical capacity.

Total electrical upgrade funding $600,000

c. Upgrade telephone system.

Total funding $15,000

5. Lunalilo Elementary School

a. Install central air conditioning for computer and ESLL labs in Building H (second floor).

Total funding $60,000

b. Installation of security screens for Buildings A, C, and D (first floor).

Total funding $24,000

c. Renovate restrooms in Building D (first floor) that are non-compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Total funding $80,000

d. Extension of concrete wall fronting first floor walkway of Building A.

Total funding $25,000

6. Stevenson Middle School

A. Removal and installation of floor tiles throughout campus.

Removal $136,000

Installation $20,000

Total funding $156,000

B. Design, construction, and installation of security gates enclosing Building A.

Total funding $300,000

7. Roosevelt High School

a. Installation of air conditioning in Building A.

Design $500,000

b. Renovate, refurbish, and restore Building A Tower.

c. Reroute water lines for upper campus.

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
