A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO THE STATE WATER CODE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $750,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002 to fund the implementation of the agricultural water use and development plan in the following manner:

(1) Research and data gathering of existing

systems on Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai,

Oahu, and Hawaii; $1

(2) Mapping and data compilation of existing

systems statewide; $1

(3) Inventorying existing agricultural land use

and irrigation water requirements on Kauai,

Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Oahu, and Hawaii; and $1

(4) Developing an agricultural water plan, including

mapping, reports, and tables. $1

Total Funding $4

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This project is deemed necessary to qualify for federal aid financing and reimbursement or both pursuant to Public Law 106-566.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
