A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO PASSING A VEHICLE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 291C, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§291C- Passing a stalled or stopped vehicle on a multi-lane street. When a vehicle is stopped or stalled in a lane of a multi-lane highway, and one or more vehicles behind it are trying to pass it, when pulling into another lane to pass the stopped or stalled vehicle the vehicle closest to the stopped vehicle shall have the right of way. If there are more than two cars trying to pass the stopped or stalled vehicle, the vehicles closest to the stopped or stalled vehicle, in order of proximity to that vehicle, shall have the right of way."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
