RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Replaces the current board of education with regional boards of education and a statewide board of education composed of its members. Establishes an educational region commission to determine educational regions within the State.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Provides for constitutional amendment making the department of education a political subdivision headed by the board of education. Allows the board to collect and implement taxes.

RELATING TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

Replaces current election process for member of the board of education to require members to be elected via an electoral process.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Proposes constitutional amendments to abolish the BOE and establish the superintendent and education select commission; and require the superintendent to be appointed by the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the senate, from a list of nominees presented to the governor by the select commission.

RELATING TO THE HAWAII STATE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM

Transfers public safety functions and employees from the Department of Public Safety to the Hawaii State Public Library System.
