RELATING TO RELAY SERVICES FOR DEAF, HARD-OF-HEARING, AND SPEECH-IMPAIRED PERSONS.

Requires the Disability and Communication Access Board to monitor relay services for the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired.

RELATING TO ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES.

Changes the definition of "assisted living facility" to clarify that it should not apply to private residences or condominiums.

RELATING TO DEPENDENT ADULTS.

Requires family or household members who know a dependent adult who needs medical treatment, but is unable to obtain it, and is at imminent risk of death or serious injury, to seek medical treatment, report to DHS, or report to a county police department.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 3-hole punched copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 226, State Capitol during regular business hours, or outside the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Office, Room 015, State Capitol for all other times, 24 hours prior to the hearing. E-mail testimony may be submitted to [email protected]. Testimony must be written in the body of the e-mail, e-mail attachments will not be accepted. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing or sending e-mail, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder. A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of the public.
