A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to prescription drugs.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 346, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§346-   Imported prescription drugs. The department may purchase prescription drugs from and enter into rebate agreements with pharmaceutical companies doing business in Canada to provide discounted prescription drugs to Hawaii residents who do not qualify for coverage under the medicaid prescription drug program and for the beneficiaries of other state assistance programs."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
