A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for an air ambulance helicopter pad for maui memorial medical center.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that Act 2, Special Session Laws of Hawaii, 2003, established a helicopter critical care emergency aeromedical service for the county of Maui. The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to construct a helipad at Maui memorial medical center to ensure that the newly established helicopter critical care emergency aeromedical service is used most efficiently, particularly by expediting the transfer of critically ill or injured patients from the helicopter to the emergency room at Maui memorial medical center.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006, for construction of a helipad at Maui memorial medical center to fully and efficiently utilize Maui county's helicopter critical care emergency aeromedical service.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
