A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to the commission on THE status of women.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 367-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (b) to read as follows:

"(b) The commission shall consist of thirteen members, which shall include:

(1) Ex officio nonvoting members the superintendent of education, the president of the University of Hawaii, the director of labor and industrial relations, the director of human resources development, the director of human services, and the director of health, or their respective designated representative; and

(2) [The] Of the remaining seven members, three shall be appointed by the governor in accordance with section 26-34, [and] two shall be appointed by the president of the senate, and two shall be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives. The seven members shall serve as voting members."

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
