A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE SEVENTEENTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $17,316,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the seventeenth senatorial district, as follows:

1. Mililani Ike Elementary School (Oahu)

A. Installation of eight temporary portable classrooms

Total Funding $1,920,000

B. Construction of a permanent ten-classroom addition to address overcrowding and accommodate additional growth in student population

Planning and Design: $700,000

Construction $7,000,000

Total funding $7,700,000

2. Mililani Middle School (Oahu)

Design and construction of covered playcourts

Design $200,000

Construction $2,000,000

Total funding $2,200,000

3. Kipapa Elementary School (Oahu)

Update electrical system

Total funding $1,200,000

4. Mililani Waena Elementary School (Oahu)

Installation of air conditioning, including electrical system upgrade

Total funding $2,000,000

5. Mililani Uka Elementary School (Oahu)

Installation of air conditioning in portion of administration building

Total funding $46,000

6. Mililani Public Library (Oahu)

Planning, design, and construction for expansion of existing parking lot

Planning $1,000

Design $249,000

Construction $2,000,000

Total funding $2,250,000

SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2008, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated for the capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
