A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO SALARY COMPENSATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 78, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§78- Salary compensation for officers and employees on active military service. The State shall compensate the difference in pay for officers and employees who are placed on active duty and serving in a hostile fire zone, provided that the state pay is higher than gross monthly military pay. Compensation shall be the difference in gross monthly pay between military pay and state pay. Gross monthly military pay shall include basic pay, all authorized allowances, and all incentive and special pay."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
