A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to the capitol district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 103, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new part to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"Part . Capitol District

§103-A Capitol district; boundaries. For purposes of this part, the capitol district is established and is comprised of all land within the area bordered by Vineyard boulevard, Punchbowl street, Alakea street, and Ala Moana boulevard.

§103-B Repair, maintenance, and beautification program. The comptroller shall develop a schedule for the repair, maintenance, and beautification of all public state buildings within the capitol district.

§103-C Capitol district special fund. (a) There is established in the department of accounting and general services a special fund to be known as the capitol district special fund into which funds appropriated by the legislature shall be deposited.

(b) Moneys from the special fund shall be expended by the comptroller for the purpose of the repair, maintenance, and beautification of public state buildings, including the state capitol, within the capitol district."

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, to be paid into the capitol district special fund created in section 103-C.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. In codifying the new sections added by section 1 of this Act, the revisor of statutes shall substitute appropriate section numbers for the letters used in designating the new sections in this Act.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
