A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

Relating to INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES IN EDUCATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006, to augment existing funding for second language programs in the department of education. Funds appropriated in this Act shall be used for the following purposes:

(1) Salaries of part-time teachers for second language programs; and

(2) Implementation of language classes using distance learning technology.

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
