Appropriates funds to DOH to support increased school-based substance abuse treatment programs for middle schools.

MAKES APPROPRIATIONS FOR SCHOOL-BASED SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAMS FOR ADOLESCENTS.

Extends adolescent school-based substance abuse treatment programs to middle and intermediate schools, giving priority to schools with the greatest need. Makes appropriation.

Appropriates funds for DOH, in coordination with DOE, to establish a substance abuse and treatment education program in public middle schools.

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO SUPPORT ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Requires all elementary and middle schools to include in their curriculum at least 200 minutes of physical activities every 10 school days. Makes an appropriation.

RELATING TO REFERRAL TO ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE SCREENING AND COUNSELING.

Requires a physician to offer to refer a patient being examined in a primary care or emergency room setting to alcohol and drug abuse screening and counseling when the physician has good reason to suspect substance abuse by the patient. Clarifies that patient may accept or refuse the offer.

Requires recipients of state funding that provide information or offer programs regarding sex information to provide medically accurate, factual information that is age-appropriate and includes information on both abstinence and contraception.
