A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

makes an appropriation for development and implementation of management plan for makena-la perouse, maui.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  In 1977, the State issued the Makena-La Perouse master plan for approximately two thousand five hundred acres along the southerly coast of Maui from Makena to Kanaloa point in the ahupuaa of Kahikinui.  The master plan area, comprised mainly of state lands is separated into three distinct sub-areas, Makena-Puu Olai state park, Ahihi-Kinau natural area reserve, and the coastline from Keonioio to Kahikinui.

     The purpose of this Act is to make a grant to the Tri-Isle Resource Conservation and Development Council on Maui to develop and implement a comprehensive management plan for the Makena-La Perouse master plan area.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $50,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, for a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to the Tri-Isle Resource Conservation and Development Council on Maui to develop and implement a comprehensive management plan for the Makena-La Perouse master plan area.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Tri-Isle Resource Conservation and Development Council on Maui for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
