A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to teachers.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that one of the greatest qualities that a teacher can have is the ability to motivate their students to learn and excel.  The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds to the department of education to explore various resources for educating teachers to find innovative ways to motivate their students.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 for exploring various resources to educate teachers in finding innovative ways to motivate their students.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act; provided that the department of education may contract with the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.


     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
