A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

Making an appropriation for wastewater projects.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the State of Hawaii has a revolving fund that enables the various counties to obtain loans for wastewater projects.  The fund is largely exhausted and needs to be replenished to meet the many needs that exist, particularly the need to replace large-capacity cesspools in accordance with requirements imposed by the federal Environmental Protection Agency.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 for the water pollution control revolving fund, established pursuant to section 342D-83, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act. 

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
