     Your Committee on Economic Development and Taxation, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 337, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of: 

 

Board of Taxation Review, 1st Taxation District (Oahu)

MICHAEL JOSEPH CHOI,

for a term to expire 6-30-2012,

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee and finds Michael Joseph Choi to possess the requisite qualifications to be nominated to the Board of Taxation Review for the 1st Taxation District.

 

     Testimony in support of the nomination of Michael Joseph Choi was submitted by the Department of Taxation.

 

     Michael Joseph Choi holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York, and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Hawaii as well as an Enrolled Agent with the United States Treasury Department.  Mr. Choi's experience includes working in the banking and public accounting industries as well as being a principal in his own public accounting firm.  In addition, Mr. Choi has learned a myriad of valuable lessons while being a member of the United States Marine Corps.  In serving a second term on the Board of Taxation Review for the 1st Taxation District, Mr. Choi will continue to utilize his professional and personal experiences to fairly and equitably resolve the issues facing the Board.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development and Taxation that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
