A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The department of labor and industrial relations shall:

(1)  Compile a report on the effectiveness of Act 5, First Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2007 (Act 5).  The report shall include, but not be limited to, data on the number of businesses that came under the scope of Act 5, the number of businesses that complied with Act 5, the number of businesses penalized for noncompliance with Act 5, and the fiscal impact of Act 5;

(2)  Make recommendations to address problems, if any, that the department finds with Act 5 and include any legislation necessary to address these problems in their report; and

(3)  Submit the report to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2010.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
