HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING A SUNRISE REVIEW OF GEOLOGIST LICENSURE.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, H.B. No. 2876, introduced during the Regular Session of 2008, proposes to require licensure for persons who hold themselves out to the public as geologists; and

 

     WHEREAS, persons who presently hold themselves out as geologists are not required to be licensed, certified, registered, or otherwise regulated by the State; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 26H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), requires that new regulatory measures being considered for enactment that, if enacted, would subject unregulated professions and vocations to licensing shall be referred to the Auditor for analysis; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 26H-6, HRS, further requires that referral shall be by concurrent resolution that identifies a specific bill to be analyzed; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2009, the Senate concurring, that in accordance with section 26H-6, HRS, the Auditor is requested to conduct a sunrise review of the licensure of geologists as proposed in H.B. No. 2876, 2008; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is further requested to submit findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the Legislature not later than 20 days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2010; and


     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor.
