Presentation: Community Health Centers in Hawaii are the front lines for meeting many of the emerging needs for high quality, accessible healthcare in underserved areas and communities with significant numbers of people who are underserved by virtue of lack of health insurance or economic, cultural, or geographic barriers. The 14 Community Health Centers located on the six major islands collectively care for more than 100,000 people.
The Hawaii Primary Care Association will provide the committee with an update on its Community Health Centers, and share insights on the challenges and opportunities of serving rural areas, emerging trends and the future direction of healthcare, workforce development and physician shortages, and the critical and strategic role that community health centers can play in strengthening safety-net services.
No public testimony will be accepted
