A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO RECYCLING.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 27, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§27‑    Recycling bins.  Every agency shall place recycling bins on the premises of each of its facilities, if feasible, in areas that are acceptable to the general public.

     As used in this section:

     "Agency" means any executive department, board, bureau, office, or other political subdivision of the State, the judiciary, and the office of Hawaiian Affairs.

     "Facility" means a building or similar structure owned or leased by, or otherwise under the jurisdiction of an agency."

     SECTION 2.  Chapter 46, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§46‑    Recycling bins.  Every agency of a county shall place recycling bins on the premises of each of its facilities, if feasible, in areas that are acceptable to the general public.

     As used in this section:

     "Agency" means any executive department, board, bureau, office, or other political subdivision of a county.

     "Facility" means a building or similar structure owned or leased by, or otherwise under the jurisdiction of an agency."

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
