A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the seventh representative district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2010-2011:

1.   To be expended by the department of education

     A.   Holualoa elementary school

          Repair rock walls 

                    Total funding                     $50,000

     B.   Kealakehe intermediate

          ADA transition and accessibility

          to 2 classroom portables

              Design and construction                $20,000

                    Total funding                     $20,000

     C.   Waikoloa school

          Utilities/ADA accessibility/stairs and

          railing for complete installation of

          portable buildings

                   Total funding                    $300,000

     D.   Waikoloa elementary and intermediate school

          Retrofitting of five buildings, including

          the library and four classroom facilities

          to provide emergency shelter spaces

                   Total funding                  $1,078,700

     E.   Waimea elementary and intermediate schools

          Retrofitting of ten buildings, including

          the dining hall, library, and eight classroom

          facilities

                   Total funding                  $1,193,800

     F.   Kanu O Ka'aina Schools

          Classroom improvements

                   Total funding                    $250,000

     G.   West Hawaii Exploration Academy

          Relocation of West Hawaii Exploration

          Academy

          Planning and design                        $900,000

                   Total funding                    $900,000

     H.   Thelma Parker library

          Carpet replacement, painting                $30,000

                   Total funding                     $30,000

2.   To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

     A.   Kekahakai state park, Hawaii

          Grading, tilling, and compacting of 1.5 mile access road

          Design and construction                    $200,000

                   Total funding                    $200,000

3.   To be expended by the department of transportation:

     A.   Kawaihae road bypass, Waimea to Kawaihae, Hawaii

          Planning and design                      $1,250,000

                   Total funding                  $1,250,000

     B.   Queen Kaahumanu highway intersection improvements at Kawaihae road

          Design revisions, property acquisition     $100,000

                   Total funding                    $100,000

4.   To be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation:

     A.   Kona community hospital, Hawaii

          Matching funds for federal pre-disaster

          mitigation grant (seismic mitigation

          for ceiling)

                   Total funding                    $750,000

     B.   West Hawaii community health center,

          Waikaloa branch

          Planning, design, construction             $180,000

                   Total funding                    $180,000

5.   To be expended by the department of agriculture:

     A.   Waimea vacuum cooling plant

          Replace obsolete power generator with photovoltaic

                   Total funding                    $500,000

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated agencies for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
