HOUSE RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO ROWENA "AUNTY rONIE" LOW FOR HER YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND BEST WISHES FOR A HAPPY RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, the people of Hawaii are fortunate to have certain individuals who dedicate their time and expertise to serving the community and devoting their lives to public service; and
WHEREAS, ROWENA "AUNTY RONIE" LOW is a well-known fixture of the House of Representatives, beginning her career as a clerk-typist in 1979 for then-Representative Henry Peters; and
WHEREAS, in 1982, AUNTY RONIE transitioned to a secretary position in the House Sergeant-at-Arms office and culminated her career with her current position as an Administrative Services Manager; and
WHEREAS, although her responsibilities included conference room scheduling, key and lock custodian, and coordinating identification cards and volunteers, AUNTY RONIE is best known as being "the voice of the House"; and
WHEREAS, like an angel from heaven, AUNTY RONIE's golden, harmonious voice, often interspersed with infectious laughter, brought cheer to House members and staff as she announced session and hearing convene and conclusion times; and
WHEREAS,
after more than 30 years of service to the House of Representatives, touching
countless lives with her joyous personality and character, AUNTY RONIE will be
retiring to Waimea on the island of Hawaii with her husband LEONARD LOW; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth
Legislature, Regular Session of 2011, that this body hereby extends, with
bittersweet fondness, its sincerest appreciation and gratitude to AUNTY RONIE
LOW for her years of service to the House of Representatives, and expresses its
best wishes to her for a well-deserved and happy retirement filled with new and
exciting adventures.
