A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to housing.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The Hawaii interagency council on homelessness, established pursuant to executive order 11-21, shall:

     (1)  Conduct a needs assessment to determine the demand for, current supply of, and funding possibilities for transitional housing for persons who are at risk of becoming homeless; and

     (2)  Develop an overall, comprehensive strategy to assist the various populations in need of transitional housing, including coordination of public-private partnerships to increase the availability of transitional housing.

     SECTION 2.  The Hawaii interagency council on homelessness shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2013.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
