A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CONTRACTORS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


SECTION 1. Section 444-9, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

"444-9 Licenses required. (a) No person within the purview of this chapter shall act, or assume to act, or advertise, as general engineering contractor, general building contractor, or specialty contractor without a license previously obtained under and in compliance with this chapter and the rules and regulations of the contractors license board.

(b) A general engineering contractor or a general building contractor who does not possess a specialty license in a craft or trade may perform work that is subordinate to a project, would otherwise require a specialty license in that craft or trade, and is necessary to the completion of the project, only when the total value of the work to be performed by the general engineering contractor or general building contractor is equal to or less than one per cent of the total contract price."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
