Status

RELATING TO THE NEUROTRAUMA ADVISORY BOARD.

Revises the total number of Neurotrauma Advisory Board members from 21 to 11 members while maintaining representation of all existing parties to facilitate making quorum on a regular basis.  Establishes quorum requirements and updates Board membership, including by allowing the Director of Health to add state and county members who work in neurotrauma.  Effective July 1, 2050.  (HB2304 HD1)

Status

RELATING TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.

Authorizes the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Board to enter into agreements with entities, educational institutions, or other  organizations, as necessary, to ensure that motor vehicle mechanics' knowledge of motor vehicle repairs are current and in line with industry standards.

RELATING TO POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION.

Repeals the requirement that a private college or university show that it maintains profitability as a means of demonstrating financial integrity to the department of commerce and consumer affairs.  Repeals section 304A-3153, HRS, relating to procedures for complaints concerning institutions of higher education in the State.

Status

RELATING TO PAYMENT OF WAGES.

Clarifies that employers may pay wages by direct deposit under certain conditions.  Allows employers to pay wages by pay cards, debit cards, automated teller machine cards, or similar means of electronic payment card under certain circumstances.  Makes employers responsible for any fees incurred if an employer has insufficient funds for the direct deposit.  (HB1814 HD1)

Status

RELATING TO BUREAU OF CONVEYANCES.

Extends the sunset date of Act 119, Session Laws of Hawaii 2013, relating to the deregistration of fee non-time share interests.  Clarifies the actions taken after a certificate of title for a fee time share interest is deregistered and marked canceled by the assistant registrar.

Status

RELATING TO FIRE PROTECTION FOR FIREWORKS.

Restricts storage and redistribution of fireworks to permanent and temporary fireworks storage facilities that comply with county building or fire code, or nationally recognized standards.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony no later than 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing. Those wishing to provide oral testimony will be limited to two minutes.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
