RELATING TO ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES.

Amends various sections of the Hawaii Revised Statutes to enable advanced practice registered nurses to practice to the fullest extent of their training and education.  (SD1)

RELATING TO NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIANS.

Requires naturopathic physicians to complete a minimum of thirty-five hours of continuing education courses, including a minimum of fifteen hours of pharmacology, during each licensing renewal biennium, beginning December 31, 2017.  Effective 07/01/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO MEDICAL RECORDS.

Allows health care providers to provide medical records to patients for a flat rate of $15.60 or the amount currently approved by the Social Security Administration, whichever amount is greater, if the request is for the purposes of a claim or appeal under any provision of the Social Security Act, or for free.  (SD1)

RELATING TO JURY DUTY.

Exempts breastfeeding mothers from jury duty for up to one year from the time the mother began breastfeeding the child.

Status

RELATING TO DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ADULT FOSTER HOMES.

Prohibits legal guardians, trustees, and relatives from continuing to care for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in a certified foster home.  Defines "related" as related by blood or marriage or having a legal relationship between a certified caregiver and a foster adult.  Permits minors with intellectual or developmental disabilities to age in place under certain conditions.  Clarifies that certified adult foster homes dually certified as foster boarding homes shall not exceed a total of three individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.  Does not impact the validity of certification of adult foster homes that are dually certified as foster boarding homes and in existence as of the effective date of this Act.  Takes effect on 1/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO PRIVACY OF HEALTH CARE INFORMATION.

Amends the statutes to protect the privacy of developmental disability and mental health information, while allowing reasonable use and disclosure as provided by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).  (SD2)

Updates the scope of practice for chiropractic to reflect standards, practices, and terminology accepted by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
