RELATING TO ELECTIONS.

Amends and clarifies the requirements upon which certificates of election are delivered.  Provides that certificates of election shall be delivered only after the filing of required candidate committee reports and the payment of any fine assessed by the commission.  Effective July 1, 2030.  (HB1604 HD2)

RELATING TO ORDER OF SUCCESSION.

Clarifies that the successor to the Office of Lieutenant Governor, when the Office of Lieutenant Governor becomes vacant, must be a member of the same political party as the Governor.  Clarifies the order of succession if the Lieutenant Governor is temporarily absent from the State or temporarily disabled.  (HB1288 HD1)

PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE HAWAII CONSTITUTION TO CHANGE THE THRESHOLD VALUE IN CONTROVERSY REQUIREMENT FOR JURY TRIALS IN CIVIL CASES AT COMMON LAW FROM $5,000 TO $10,000.

Proposes an amendment to article I, section 13, of the Hawaii Constitution to increase the threshold value in controversy requirement for jury trials in civil cases at common law from $5,000 to $10,000.  (HB1844 HD1)

RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.

Requires the State Auditor to review the current civil service exemption process, make recommendations, and establish guidelines to ensure the appropriate use of this process.  Requires the State Auditor to work with state departments and agencies, including the Department of Human Resources Development, and other interested parties to update and modernize job position descriptions.  (HB1966 HD1)
