A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to workers' compensation.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 431, article 14A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is repealed.

     SECTION 2.  Upon the effective date of this Act, the Hawaii employers' mutual insurance company's board of directors, as it exists on the day prior to the effective date of this Act, shall retain all powers, duties, and responsibilities associated with it until such time that the board may otherwise decide and in accordance with laws governing insurance companies authorized to conduct business in the State.

     SECTION 3.  All policies and coverages issued by the Hawaii employers' mutual insurance company as of the effective date of this Act shall remain in force in accordance with each policy's terms.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

HEMIC; Workers' Compensation; Repeal

 

Description:

Repeals article 431:14A, HRS, which statutorily established the Hawaii employers' mutual insurance company (HEMIC) to provide workers' compensation coverage for Hawaii employers.  Provides for continuing operation of HEMIC and any policies and coverages issued by it.
