Appropriates $225,000 in general funds for 4.0 FTE positions for the UH Pamantasan Council to promote access and diversity.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Appropriates moneys for two full-time time equivalent graduate assistant positions at the Hawaii educational policy center at UH.

Appropriates funds for a permanent full-time director (1.0 FTE) and permanent full-time faculty specialist position (1.0 FTE) within the University of Hawaii center on aging.

Establishes the office of the ombuds at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Appropriates funds to establish and operate the office.

RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE REVENUE BONDS FOR CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY OF HONOLULU.

Authorizes the issuance of up to $25,000,000 in special purpose revenue bonds to assist Chaminade University of Honolulu.

Status

RELATING TO THE JOHN A. BURNS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE.

Establishes the John A. Burns School of Medicine Scholarship Program, which covers the cost of tuition and fees for a full course of study at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in exchange for a service commitment of five years in the State upon the completion of residency.

Status

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII OPERATING COSTS.

Requires the UH to finance at least sixty per cent of its operating costs through general funds.

Status

RELATING TO COLLEGE-CREDIT EQUIVALENCY PROGRAMS.

Requires, rather than authorizes, UH to establish policies and procedures for the awarding of credits for college-level learning gained from work or other life experiences, other than military service covered under current law. Requires UH to report to the legislature on its progress in awarding the college credits.

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

WHEN SUBMITTING WRITTEN TESTIMONY AT THE HEARING: Please bring 20 copies for Committee Members.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
