A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to education.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  No later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2018, the department of education shall submit a report to the legislature regarding:

     (1)  The department's progress toward implementing sections 302A-1141, 302A-1141.3, and 302A-1141.4, Hawaii Revised Statutes; and

     (2)  The expenditure of the funds appropriated in section 2, including details of the training provided and the data accountability to assist with the implementation of sections 302A-1141, 302A-1141.3, and 302A-1141.4, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 to fund one full-time equivalent position (1.0 FTE) to provide training and data accountability to assist with the effective implementation of sections 302A-1141, 302A-1141.3 and 302A-1141.4, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050

Description:

Appropriates funds to provide training and track data on public school pupil punishment and use of restraints restrictions established by Act 206, Session Laws of Hawaii 2014.  Requires report.  Appropriates funds.  (HB1814 HD1)
