HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND GENERAL SERVICES TO IDENTIFY AND PRIORITIZE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE PROJECTS FOR ALL STATE BUILDINGS BASED ON THE HIGHEST HEALTH AND SAFETY NEEDS.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the Department of Accounting and General Services controls and oversees the planning, coordination, and organization of a variety of engineering and architectural services for the State; and

 

WHEREAS, these services include land acquisition and the planning, designing, inspection, and management of construction projects, as well as facilitating quality control, contracting, construction management, equipping of facilities, and other improvements for state agencies; and

 

WHEREAS, every year the Legislature proposes capital improvement projects to address the critical needs of state facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, a prioritization of projects for state buildings by the highest health and safety needs would provide the Legislature with the opportunity to ensure that the focus of funds will go towards the most appropriate facilities; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, the Senate concurring, that the Department of Accounting and General Services is requested to identify and prioritize repair and maintenance projects for all state buildings based on the highest health and safety needs; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Accounting and General Services is requested to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2017; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Comptroller.
