A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:



     Section 1.  The Ala Loa trail system historically provided overland transportation and communication within the Hawaiian kingdom.  The extensive trail system provided a network for accessing fishing grounds, traversing from community to community, gathering medicine, and other native Hawaiian traditional and cultural practices.

     SECTION 2.  The department of land and natural resources shall recognize the entire Ala Loa trail on the island of Kauai as a state trail. The department shall define the physical boundaries of the Ala Loa trail.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
