A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to foster care services.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 587A-4, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending the definitions of ""foster parent" or "foster family"" and "resource family" to read as follows:

     ""Foster parent" or "foster family" means a person or family licensed by the department or another authorized agency to provide foster care services for children and can be used interchangeably with "resource family".  Any proper adult person or family, regardless of marital status, may be approved for licensing by the department or another authorized agency to provide foster care services for children.

     "Resource family" means a person or family licensed by the department or another authorized agency to provide foster care services for children and can be used interchangeably with "foster parent" and "foster family".  Any proper adult person or family, regardless of marital status, may be approved for licensing by the department or another authorized agency to provide foster care services for children."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
