A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING to CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FIFTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2017-2018:

     1.   To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Honaunau elementary school, Hawaii

          Design and construction for campus-wide repair and maintenance projects to upgrade electrical system, replace roofing and sliding doors, and install chain link fencing and railings.

          Total funding                           $437,000

     B.   Hookena elementary school, Hawaii

Plans, design, and construction for a covered, multi-purpose structure.

     C.   Hookena elementary school, Hawaii

          Design and construction for campus-wide repair and maintenance projects to make drainage improvements, replace roofing, install roofing for the diesel tank, and replace lamps and posts.

     D.   Kau high and Pahala elementary school, Hawaii

          Construction for campus-wide repair and maintenance projects to replace roofing, gutters, and dining room and kitchen floors, resurface and restripe the parking lot, and install walkway lights, switches for gym lights, chain link fencing, and solar fans.

     E.   Kau Learning Academy public charter school, Hawaii

          Plans, design, construction, and equipment for facilities to support the addition of a new grade level, including three new classrooms and two multi-use rooms.

          Land acquisition for a new makai campus.

          Design and construction for campus-wide repair and maintenance projects to repair gutters, repave fire lane, replace whiteboards, and re-grade the courtyard.

          Plans, design, construction, and equipment to replace the football and soccer field turf.

     N.   Konawaena middle school, Hawaii

          Construction for campus-wide electrical upgrades and to install electrical drop downs in the computer lab to adhere with the fire code.

          Plans, design, and construction to repave the parking lot.

          Design and construction to install a solar exhaust system for the portable buildings to keep the classrooms cool.

          Design and construction for campus-wide repair and maintenance projects to install power poles, stabilize covered walkways, add circuits, replace roofing, and construct landings.

     R.   Naalehu elementary school, Hawaii

          Design and construction for new covered walkways.

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2017.
