A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO FISHING.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 188, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§188-    Fishing; Waikiki-Diamond Head shoreline fisheries management area; prohibited.  It is unlawful for any person to fish at any time in the Waikiki-Diamond Head shoreline fisheries management area, which shall include that portion of the submerged lands and overlying waters beginning at the high water mark on the shoreline to a minimum seaward distance of five hundred yards or to the seaward edge of the fringing reef if one occurs beyond five hundred yards and between straight lines extending seaward, along the ewa or western-most wall of the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium and the Diamond Head lighthouse."
     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on October 1, 2017.
