RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Authorizes the State to apply for and implement a waiver from certain provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, as amended.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE.

Ensures certain benefits under the federal Affordable Care Act are preserved under Hawaii law, including:  extending dependent coverage for adult children up to 26 years of age; prohibiting health insurance entities from imposing a preexisting condition exclusion; and prohibiting health insurance entities from using an individual's gender to determine premiums or contributions.

RELATING TO CEMETERIES.

Limits liability for volunteers and certain entities that provide volunteers to maintain or repair cemetery grounds.  Requires the director of commerce and consumer affairs, in consultation with the comptroller, to develop strategies for repair and maintenance of Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City, Oahu.  Requires report to Legislature.

RELATING TO SECURITY FREEZES.

Requires Hawaii consumers, who are required to receive a summary of rights under section 609 of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, to also receive a notice of their rights under Hawaii law to obtain a security freeze on their credit reports.

SB 2769

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO CONSUMER CREDIT REPORTING AGENCIES.

Eliminates the fee charged by a consumer reporting agency to place, lift, or remove a security freeze requested by a consumer, protected consumer, or a protected consumer's representative.  Allows a consumer to request a security freeze at any time.
