A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the state capitol.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 6E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§6E-    State capitol; environmental practices.  (a)  The state capitol management committee shall develop and carry out a plan by 2045 to establish the state capitol as a building that conducts environmental practices to be a sustainable, resilient, and energy-efficient building.

     (b)  The state capitol management committee shall adopt environmental measures, including water reuse and energy conservation, to carry out its plan.

     (c)  The department of accounting and general services shall provide administrative support to the state capitol management committee in developing and carrying out the plan required pursuant to this section."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
