RELATING TO KUPUNA CARE.

Specifies that ten per cent of the moneys in the Hawaii tobacco settlement special fund shall be allocated to and expended by the department of health for purposes of the kupuna care program and the kupuna caregivers program.  Specifies that the allotment of tobacco settlement moneys shall not supplant the base budget of the executive office on aging.

Designates the month of October as "Disability Awareness Month:  Employment, Enrichment, and Inclusion" to annually recognize the immense contributions and achievements of persons with disabilities in the State.

Status

RELATING TO PARKING FOR DISABLED PERSONS.

Proposed HD1: Establishes a penalty for unauthorized sale, use, or purchase of a disability parking permit.  Clarifies law enforcement authority to confiscate altered, invalid, or unauthorized disability parking permit.

RELATING TO CRISIS INTERVENTION.

Creates a crisis intervention and diversion program in the department of health to divert those in need to appropriate health care and away from the criminal justice system.

RELATING TO HEALTH.

Establishes a working group to evaluate current behavioral health care and related system gaps related to the continuum of care for persons experiencing substance abuse, mental health conditions, and homelessness.  Makes an appropriation.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number.

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.
