RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Creates a county education task force to establish a process for the transfer of jurisdiction over all public schools, including all state public education functions and funding, from the State to the county in which the public school is located.  Requires report to legislature prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2021.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Defines, for the purpose of compulsory education, a private school to be an education institution that teaches kindergarten through grade twelve and that is licensed or accredited by the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools or the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

RELATING TO THE STATE PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION.

Authorizes the state public charter school commission to establish and fund charter school prekindergarten classrooms.  Makes an appropriation.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD1)

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Establishes the Hawaii three to six out-of-school program for grades kindergarten through twelve.  Authorizes the department of education to contract with private providers to furnish out-of-school programs for grades kindergarten through twelve, conducted during after-school hours, on weekends, and during inter-sessions on the premises of the private providers. Specifies the Hawaii three to six out-of-school program special fund is to be administered by the department of education.  Makes appropriations.  (SD1)

Allows students to enroll in career and technical education programs in schools outside the Department of Education service area in which the student resides.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
