A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HEALTH.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that it is important to raise awareness of the immense contributions persons with disabilities have made and continue to make in the State.

     The legislature recognizes that National Disability Employment Awareness Month, held in October, raises awareness about employment issues for persons with disabilities and celebrates the contributions that America's workers with disabilities make throughout communities nationwide.

     The purpose of this Act is to increase the public's awareness of the contributions and achievements of persons with disabilities in the State by designating the month of October as "Disability Awareness Month: Employment, Enrichment, and Inclusion."

     SECTION 2.  Chapter 8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§8-    Disability Awareness Month: Employment, Enrichment, and Inclusion.  The month of October shall be known and designated as "Disability Awareness Month: Employment, Enrichment, and Inclusion".  This month is not and shall not be construed as a state holiday."

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
