Status and Testimony

RELATING TO DOMESTIC ABUSE.
Amends the definition of "domestic abuse" under Hawaii's insurance laws and laws relating to domestic abuse protective orders to include coercive control between family or household members.  Defines "coercive control".  Effective 7/1/2050.  (HD1)

RELATING TO SECURITIES.
Protects elders and vulnerable adults from financial exploitation in relation to securities.  Effective 12/31/2059.  (HD2)

Status and Testimony

RELATING TO CEMETERIES.
Clarifies that churches granted an exemption from the state laws governing cemeteries and funeral trusts are exempt from all requirements.  Allows the director of commerce and consumer affairs to impose any statutory requirement upon an exempt cemetery authority by order.  Clarifies that an entity exempt as a church under federal tax law is considered a church for purposes of exemption.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (HD1)
