RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Increase the renewable energy technology tax credit cap per unit per solar energy system for multi-family residential properties from $350 to $750.  Applies to taxable years beginning after 12/31/2019.

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY TAX CREDITS.

Beginning January 1, 2025, eliminates the renewable energy technologies income tax credit for solar energy systems for which the primary purpose is not to heat water for multi-family resident and commercial properties.

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES TAX CREDITS.

Amends the renewable energy technologies income tax credit to include commercial seawater air conditioning systems.

RELATING TO ENERGY.

Authorizes the Hawaii state energy office to enter into contracts with certain non-profit organizations to create a plan and administer moneys in the energy security special fund.  Increases the amount of funds deposited into the energy security special fund from the state environmental response, energy, and food security tax.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Requires the Governor; Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; and the Hawaii State Energy Office to develop a strategic plan that outlines benchmarks to achieve a 100% renewable energy portfolio standard.  Requires the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism to submit the strategic plan to the Legislature before the Regular Session of 2021.

RELATING TO CONSUMER PROTECTION.

Requires retailers of household appliances to conspicuously display available energy efficiency rebates and state-specific energy operation costs.  Effective 10/1/2020.

SB 2564

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO CLEAN ENERGY FINANCING.

Repeals the building energy efficiency revolving loan fund and creates a clean energy revolving loan fund under the administration of the Hawaii green infrastructure authority.  Funds the office through the dwelling unit revolving fund.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO ENERGY.

Requires the public utilities commission to establish preferential electricity rates for residential properties located within a five-mile radius of a utility scale wind energy facility.
